Sherilyn Johnson

. . . has always had a special place in her heart for babies even as a little girl. She grew up in Alaska in a family with 6 Siblings. After marrying her husband she graduated with her degree in nursing and began her career in Maternal Child Health in 1985. Over the past 38 years she and her husband raised 5 children and now adore 6 beautiful grandchildren.

In 2003, While living in Spokane, WA, Sherilyn accepted a position as a “Lactation Specialist” at Sacred Heart Medical Center.  she continued to pursue her advanced training and certification and became an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). By 2006, she had completed her course work and obtained her certification and has never looked back.

Sherilyn has enjoyed working with mothers and babies for most of her career. she has worked labor and delivery, mother-baby and lactation. Some of the other highlights of her career includes being asked to be a guest lecturer on lactation, for the nursing students at WSU for over five years. she has also enjoyed leading out in mother-baby support groups for many years, as well as owning a breast pump rental company.

After her children were grown, educated and married, Sherilyn and her husband found that their responsibilities began to shift in a new direction . In 2014, her mother passed away and her father was facing health challenges as well, so they relocated to central Washington. This allowed Sherilyn to assist in the care of her elderly father as well as help him through the years to come.

Although, she continued working as a nurse in Yakima for Virginia Mason, she felt like she was still being called to do something more. realizing the need for additional outpatient lactation support in her community, she decided to do something about it. So, in the summer of 2019, she began to pour her heart and soul into making her dreams of opening a free standing, private practice, lactation clinic a reality. she is now able to give her full time attention, energy and support to the families she serves.

Continuing Education is important to Sherilyn, in 2020 and 2022 she attended the Master IBCLC Course. this training has given her the ability to assess and help babies with suck dysfunction, Working alongside a Pediatric Dentist, local Pediatricians and a Pediatric Body worker, Sherilyn supports both the mother and the baby throughout their breastfeeding experience.

Cuddles and Cream Lactation is a culmination of everything Sherilyn has worked towards and cared about for her entire career. She is passionate about working with mothers in need of breastfeeding support. If you are looking for a lactation consultant that believes that her ministry is nurturing both the mother and the baby, then Cuddles and Cream is the right place for you.
